Sri Lankan Human Genome
Srilankan Genome
Launch at the Annual Scientific Secessions of the Sri Lanka Association for the Advancement of Science on 10th December  2010
The Sri Lankan Human Genome Project was conceived by the Biomedical Informatics Program of the Postgraduate Institute of Medicine, University of Colombo and executed in collaboration with the Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology, New Delhi, India. The first Sri Lankan Human Genome sequenced came from a Sinhalease man with both upcountry and low country heritage. The project will be extended to cover other ethnicities as well in the years to come. TCGA is proud to be associated with this endeavor.

The Sri Lankan Human Genome data would be available in public database. The data would be made accessible to all scientific groups in the country to join team at the University of Colombo to analyse, explore, and make their discoveries freely available to the scientific and the medical communities. With the launch of the Sri Lankan Human Genome, genetic research in Sri Lanka has truly entered the post genomic era. more
